When the invitation says black tie, it means a dinner suit: a black or midnight blue jacket with silk lapels, matching trousers, a white dress shirt and a bow tie. It’s a simple dress code, but the details matter, and that’s where we can help.
We hire and sell dinner suits for charity balls, company dinners, awards evenings, Christmas parties and anything else that calls for evening wear. We’ll measure you in store, check the jacket across the shoulders and get the trouser length right, so you’re not tugging at anything all night.
For white tie and more formal evenings we also have evening tailcoats, and our kilt hire is popular for Burns Night and Scottish weddings.

Single-breasted with one button, or double-breasted, with satin or grosgrain lapels.
Matching the jacket, with a braid down the outside leg and no belt loops.
A white dress shirt with a turndown collar, and a black bow tie.
A waistcoat or cummerbund, black socks and polished black shoes.
We recently hired dinner suits for 3 gentlemen for a black tie dinner. The professionality was second to none from the measuring, to the alterations and the quality of the suits and shirts. Black tie is a dinner suit with a black bow tie. White tie is the most formal dress code there is: a black evening tailcoat, white waistcoat, wing-collar shirt and white bow tie. We can help with both.
If you go to one or two black tie events a year, hiring usually makes sense. If you’re out more than that, owning one often works out cheaper, and we sell dinner suits as well.
Two to three weeks is usually plenty. Around Christmas and the summer ball season it’s worth coming in earlier.
Yes. Company dinners and groups of friends often come in together, and we’ll fit everyone at once.
